AAR: INFINITY: 300 Points- Qapu Khalqi vs. USAriadna: ITS2016- Firefight

Credit: LordHayabusa357- "It Gets Harder From Here On Out"
After a massive break from Infinity I have decided to get back into the gaming side of things.  I have booked my ticket for the national tournament in a few months and decided to play a bit more frequently.

I cooked up a list, turned up at a one day tournament a week ago and promptly finished last!  Not the most auspicious start but I was very happy just to roll some dice and move my painted miniatures around a table.

Having broken the seal on Infinity gaming once again I teed up another match at my FLGS and set (what I thought) was a generous time limit of 3hrs.  Tournament games have to be done and dusted in about 90-120min so I figured this was ample timing.

So with a tweaked list (thanks to the help of an experienced USAriadna player) it was time to get cracking!

Desperado- Shotgun

Bad to the bone.
This is the second Desperado that I sped paint into the tournament.

He turned out quite well despite me cutting corners on the blending and the highlights- mainly because of Minoaturo Studio awesome techniques for painting muscle and and backpacks!  I've used it for all my Ariadna miniatures and I can safely say that it is by far and away the most "pop" parts of the miniatures.

Anyways- on with the slide show.

Desperado- Heavy Pistol

Say "what" again!
Another kind of speed paint... I did rush this model to get it tournament ready.

The Second Hardcase

Speed paint.
This was a speed paint to get ready for a tournament.

This figure was done in a day.  Sadly- if you look very closely he is not nearly as good as Hardcase number 1... but he is definitely gaming quality.

Dismounted Maverick: Limited Edition

"Civilian" model
Finished my last model from the USAriadna starter set.  I think it calls for a celebration!

Gecko Mk12 Rifle: "The Blackjack"

The proxy Blackjack.
+++++
"Following the now infamous Taft Police Action it has become clear that our lack of advanced power armour technology is proving decisive in our engagements with off-world agencies. It is a priority that the technical knowledge for power armour construction and power supply be researched as a priority if we are to dominate the battle space…."

- Director of Defence Science Technology and Materials Bureau
+++++

With no model out for the Blackjack yet- and me franticly painting to get ready for an upcoming tournament- I had to find a stand in model.

Luckily, I had a box of Geckos I had bought a year ago.  I'll never play Nomads, but I loved the models... and very importantly, they were on special!

And... in a fortuitous coincidence, I entered a painting competition a few months ago and I penned a little fluff piece for my Ariadnan spec-ops model which turned out to be rather fitting for this "Blackjack".

For those out there that can stand a bit of heresy, read on.....

AAR: INFINITY: 300 Points- Steel Phalanx vs. PanOceania: ITS2016- Safe Area

Credit: Unknown.
It's been a long time between games for me- but even more so for my regular (semi-regular?) gaming group.  So it was my pleasure to host and watch two beautifully painted armies smash into each other in furious combat.

Both armies have had some serious painting done and it was time for the Dragao to take on Achilles in hoplite armour backed up by Hector!

It was set to be a clash of Homeric proportions... and I was not disappointed!

Hardcase

Tactical bow.
12 points for two camouflage markers.

And it comes with a tactical bow!

Tankhunter AP HMG v2.0

Break Glass in case of TAG
What a good looking sculpt!

I painted him with the French tricolour because it was on my mind at the time.

I think I might proxy him as a second Spetsnaz HMG at a pinch.

Spetsnaz HMG

A camouflage HMG that uses Shock and ignores cover.
Most fantastic Ariadna model to date (stats wise).

We can debate the power creep in Infinity all day and regardless of what side of the camp you are on- you have to admit the sculpt is really good!

Kazak Doctor

I'm not your cannula slave!
Not a popular choice for most Ariadna players (the 112 is cheaper!) but useful when running the 18 figure list that has two almost identical combat groups.

He's an old sculpt but still has a bit of charm about him.

Chasseur

More flamer goodness!
What's better than one Chasseur?  Two Chasseurs!

The whole- lay mine around a corner and then step out and shoot is an old trick that should be standard for most Chasseur figures.

I'm glad I got this one out of the way, as she was a terror to assemble.  Don't look too closely, the weapon, hands and arms are held together by chunks of araldyte and Zap-a-Gap.

SAS Chain Rifle Assault Pistol

I need to fix my light box
The N3 rules on dodging direct template weapons have taken the nerf bat to this model but the assault pistol from close range is still something to be feared!

Ariadna Scout

Rule 1: All guns are always loaded.
I finally got this figure finished!

Originally I thought this was going to be a quick model to paint- but how wrong I was....

Dog Warriors

Mamamia!  Mamamia!  Mamamia let me go!
These are Dog Warriors who will proxy as my Irmadinhos.

... Until I paint the actual Irmadinhos models.

AAR: INFINITY: 300 points- Onyx vs. PanOceania: HS2N3- Rescue

Credit: PARK Jon Wong
With Human Sphere recently released, it was decided to give one of the new scenarios a try.

And it was time to try out Onyx!!!

Sadly, I hadn't painted up my new remotes, Unidron support weapons or even my second Umbra (there's a lot on the painting table!).  So in order to make the 300 point cap it was down to bringing the biggest model I could get...

... the Sphinx!

Ariadna: Cateran Sniper

T2 Cateran
Is there any other kind of Cateran Sniper?

I've had these annoying figures throw my plans into utter disarray but when I try and use them they've been simply mediocre.

They are fantastic killers in the active turn.  In reactive turn, they just get wasted....

AAR: Infinity: 300 points- MAF vs. Neoterra: N3- Frontline

Credit: PARK Jong Won

With HSN3 dropping soon, I decided to give the MAF one last hurrah.  It wasn't a tourney list- I just decided to use a few models I haven't touched for a long time.... *cough* Raicho *cough*

I'm really not a fan of bring TAGs- those of you who've followed my MAF batreps know this is far from my 'ideal' list- but this was for fun....

... what?!  We can play Infinity for fun?

To war!!!!

Uxia McNeill- Covert Action

Surprise!!!
I have it on good authority that this figure is the best ITS figure in Ariadna.

Superior infiltration, smoke, demolition charges and a shotgun makes her an excellent 'classifieds' go getter and a general pain in the backside.

I don't know why she has a divot in her forehead- likely a scar from all the times she's been head shotted for being so close to the enemy.

Caledonian Volunteer- Rifle

Is that a seed soldier?
Despite his odd looking pose- this figure isn't too bad.

I painted him with the Caledonian Volunteer whilst Braveheart was blaring in the background.  That was some motivation.

Caledonian Volunteer- Chain Rifle and Painting Tartan

They may take our lives but they'll never take our FREEDOM!
For 6 points- you get an order, a chain rifle and not much else.

Bargain!

Ariadna: Chasseur

Flamers ready!
I finished this Chasseur over the past two weeks.

He was an enjoyable model to paint and not so covered in detail to make it a chore to finish.  In keeping with his French origins I painted his pants and cap in Camouflage Europe Centrale- the camouflage pattern of the modern French army uniforms.

He's turned out very well for an old sculpt even if I do say so myself.

Ariadna: Spec-Ops

Sneaky peaky.
I have no idea why I did this miniature other than the fact he has been on my to do list for 100 days.  Yes- that's right- 100 days.  So when a competition turned up for painting a Spec-Ops model- I caved in and got it done.

To be honest, having the satisfaction of crossing him off my to do list is a fantastic feeling.

He's good for the table top and I can't wait to trot him out as a proxy for ... anything!   So versatile!

Ariadna: Tank Hunter Autocannon

AP + EXP ammo = best ammo.
After a brief hiatus spent away with real life- I return invigorated for more battles with tiny lead soldiers.

I have received many assurances that the Tank Hunter Autocannon is the go to TAG killer for Ariadna.  In fact, it seems to be the go to anything killer of anything with more than 1 wound.

Which ever it turns out to be- I can't wait to bring this figure onto the gaming table!
