Morat Vanguard Infantry

I only get three glowing lights?!
This is the first finished Morat Vanguard from the Combined Army starter set.  I'll call him Trajan.

Trajan is the first model to get the 'full' OSL treatment.  I finally managed to get my Citadel Baharoth Blue and put a tiny bit into the cracks of the combo rifle and it really makes the glow stand out.  Probably not as much in bright sunlight, but here where there's not as much glare it does stand out.

My efforts with OSL need more work but I'm quite happy with a bit of effort paying off.

Painting Vanguards

Why are Vanguards lefties?
Sprayed with Citadel Chaos Black.  No more Tamiya Grey Primer for me thanks.

Green armour plates- VMC Cam Olive.  Washed with Citadel Athonian Camoshade.  1st highlight- VMC Cam Olive.  Edge highlight- VMC Uniform green.

Brown armour plates- VGC Charred Brown.  Highlight with Citadel Gorthor brown.  Some dry brushing was required over larger plates.

Green pants- VMC Cam Olive.  No wash at all.  Then coarse highlight with Citadel Death World Forest.

Black pants- highlight Citadel Eshin Grey.  Final highlight VGC Cold Grey.

Hair- VGC Charred Brown.  Dry brush Citadel Zandri Dust.  Dry brush Citadel Ushabti Bone.  Dry brush (lightly!!!) VMC Ivory and maybe paint a few highlights with it.  If it's too messy and dusty looking, I hit it with Army Painter Strong Tone and retouch up.

Face- VGC Charred Brown.  Layer- Citadel Khorne red.  Highlight- 50/50-ish mix of Khorne Red and Citadel Bronzed Flesh.  Final highlight- Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet.  Eyes- careful dab of Citadel Bronzed Flesh.

Pauldron- VGC Cold Grey.  Highlight VMC Ivory.  Though I did try VMC Ghost Grey which is excellent applied just on its own and thus saving me a step.

Basic highlights completed
Final things to fix:

Weapon- VMC Ghost grey highlight.  Citadel Death World Forest for carry handle, butt group and upper receiver.  Highlighted with Citadel Straken Green.

OSL- streak of Citadel Lothern Blue.  Tiny streak of Citadel Baharoth Blue just to the inside edge of the Lothern Blue.  Makes it look like its glowing a blue glow.

Base- black wash.  VGC Charred Brown heavy dry brush.  Then dry brush VMC Medium Grey.  Finally glue on a black painted granite chip and Zap-a-Gap some grass into place.

Kukri- VGC Charred Brown.  Then VMC English Uniform.  Edge highlight with VMC Medium Grey.  Maintain for other 'leather' pouches etc.

Humans are tasty.
